Saskatoon Prestige Windshield swaps cracked windshields, fills stone chips before they spread, and replaces smashed door, back and quarter glass on cars, SUVs, pickups and vans. Every windshield sits on a bead of urethane adhesive, the black glue bonding glass to body, inside a shop we keep at 20°C. No word of a lie, that heat is half the job come January: urethane cures slowly when it's frigid, and a windshield set in a minus 30 driveway isn't one we'd sign.
The paperwork part is ours. We file the SGI glass claim, so you bring your customer number and plate and pay just the deductible, often $50 or $100 on an Auto Pak. Got a camera up by the rear-view mirror? It gets aimed before you head home, not booked for some other week. Most installs take 60 to 90 minutes, our driver will fetch the car from any address in the city, and the price we quote is what you pay.
Most of the auto glass repair Saskatoon drivers bring us is one of these five jobs. Pick one, or just tell us what happened and we'll figure out which it is.

Car glass comes in a few different kinds, and each one breaks its own way. Here's the auto glass Saskatoon cars break most, and what each job involves.
Windshield Replacement
We think of the windshield as the top board on a grain truck box: nobody notices it until it's gone and everything bows. It's laminated glass, a sandwich of two panes with a PVB interlayer (clear vinyl) in the middle. Once a crack passes roughly 15 cm, we cut it free, prime the frame and bond in fresh glass. Budget 60 to 90 minutes and $350 to $700 for most cars.
Windshield Chip Repair
Catch a stone chip under loonie size and we can usually save the glass. We've found that about nine in ten chips brought in within a week fill clean. Vacuum, resin, UV lamp, twenty minutes. $70, or free on most package policies. Details on windshield chip repair.
Windshield Crack Repair
Honestly, most cracks we see are past saving, but a short one (under 15 cm, low on the passenger side, nowhere near the edge) can sometimes be stopped with resin. Edge cracks and stress cracks, the kind that show up overnight with no chip, mean new glass. We'll say which before we touch it.
Side Window Replacement
Door windows are tempered glass, so a break-in leaves a dropped tray of ice cubes in your door and seat rails. We pull the trim, vacuum twice, test the regulator (the window motor) and slide in new glass. Typical door glass: $250 to $450. More on car window replacement.
Back Glass Replacement
Rear glass has the defroster grid printed on it, those thin orange lines, and on lots of SUVs the radio antenna too. In our experience a back window that fogs up afterwards had a tab left unplugged, so we test both before you leave. Most run $350 to $800.
Quarter & Vent Glass
Those little triangle windows behind the back doors get smashed more than you'd guess, usually by someone after a phone on the seat. Some are glued in, some ride in a rubber gasket. Figure $200 to $400 and an hour or so.
Sunroof Glass Replacement
Sunroof and moonroof panels are tempered too, held in a metal frame. We look the panel up by VIN, swap it, then open and close it a dozen times to make sure it seals. Pricing swings a lot between vehicles, so this one gets quoted per car.
Heated & HUD Windshields
Plenty of newer windshields hide extras: a heated strip so wipers don't freeze down, a quiet acoustic layer, or a wedge layer for a heads-up display. Order the wrong one and your speed shows up twice. We go by your exact options, not just year and model.
ADAS Camera Calibration
If your dash beeps when you drift over a line, there's a forward-facing camera up behind the mirror reading the road through that glass. New windshield, new aim: we set a calibration target in front of the car and run the scan tool. Paid privately it's $300 to $800. See ADAS calibration.
Trucks that run gravel roads all week go through windshields. We keep company jobs simple: one contact, one invoice, glass booked around your shifts.
Work Truck Windshield Replacement
Half-ton and three-quarter-ton trucks off Highway 11 and the grid roads are our most common rock-chip victims. Common sizes sit on our shelf, so a same-day swap is often possible. See truck windshield replacement.
Cargo Van & Service Vehicle Glass
High-roof vans have tall, heavy windshields that need two people and the right lifters. We also replace sliding door and rear door glass on trades vans.
Company Car Fleets
Fleet managers get a log of every unit, early warnings when a chip shows up, and one monthly bill once the account is open.
Dealerships & Used Car Lots
A used car sells faster with clear glass. Lots can book the chip fills and windshields together and have our driver collect from the lot.
In 2026, out-of-pocket windshield replacement in Saskatoon runs about $350 to $700 for most cars, and $550 to $1,400 when a lane camera needs calibrating. Through SGI, most drivers just pay their deductible: $50 or $100 with an Auto Pak, $700 on plate coverage alone.

Plenty of times. Our rule of thumb: chip under a loonie, or one crack shorter than about 15 cm, sitting outside the driver's line of sight and clear of the glass edge, gets resin. Anything larger, or anything the cold has already started to stretch, gets a new windshield.
Usually Repairable
- Bullseye chips smaller than a loonie
- Star breaks with short legs
- A single crack under about 15 cm
- Damage outside the driver's main view
- Fresh chips kept dry and clean
- Up to three chips on one windshield
Needs a New Windshield
- Cracks longer than about 15 cm
- Any crack that reaches the edge
- Damage in the driver's main view
- Chips over the camera or rain sensor
- Overnight stress cracks (no chip)
- Damage on both glass layers
Not sure? Snap a photo with a loonie beside the chip and send it with the form. Details on windshield chip repair.
A Heated Shop for Winter Windshield Installs
Urethane needs warmth and a bit of moisture to cure. We've watched mobile jobs in January come back with leaks and whistles, so every set happens inside at 20°C, and you get a drive-away time that's real, not a guess.
SGI Windshield Claims Handled for You
Honestly, paperwork shouldn't be your job. We send the glass claim to SGI ourselves, confirm your deductible up front, and bill SGI for the balance. Rock damage counts as a road hazard, so it doesn't touch your Safety Rating. See SGI windshield claims.
Camera Calibration After Every Windshield
Aiming a lane camera is like a skip setting the broom: a few centimetres off at the hog line and the rock misses the house. We calibrate every equipped car after new glass, and it's covered on SGI claims.
Lifetime Warranty on Our Windshield Installation
Leak or whistle from our work, any year you own the car, comes back free. We've found the jobs that return were the rushed ones, so we just don't rush.
Send a photo or call
Year, make, model and a picture. Set a loonie beside the chip so we can judge the size without a second call.
We check SGI and order the glass
Customer number, plate and the day it happened. We check the deductible with SGI and order glass that matches your options.
Drop it off or we fetch it
Drive in, or our driver picks the car up anywhere in Saskatoon, usually on the morning loop around 8.
Install, calibrate, test drive
Glass in, camera aimed, then a short spin down Circle Drive listening for whistles. You leave with the drive-away time on your receipt.

A few words from drivers we have set glass for this year.
Gravel truck got me on Highway 11 and the crack was across the whole windshield by morning. They filed the SGI claim, I paid my $100 and had the truck back before lunch. No mess inside, no whistle on the highway.
Kyle D.WarmanPickup windshield My SUV has the lane camera and the dealer wanted a week. Prestige did the windshield and the calibration the same afternoon and showed me the printout. The lane assist works like it did before.
Priya S.StonebridgeWindshield and calibration Had a chip the size of a dime. They filled it in about twenty minutes and it cost me nothing with my package policy. Honest enough to say I did not need a new windshield.
Marlene T.WillowgroveChip repair Someone smashed my passenger window downtown. They picked the car up from my work, replaced the glass, vacuumed every bit out of the door and dropped it back by four. Fair price.
Jordan B.NutanaDoor glass
"I grew up hauling grain to the elevator in Rosthern. You learn fast that a windshield is the one thing you can't do without in a Saskatchewan winter. So we set them like we'd want ours set: inside, warm, and not rushed."
Darren K.
Senior installer, Saskatoon Prestige WindshieldAbout fifteen years setting glass in Saskatoon. Curls Tuesday nights, coaches U11 hockey on weekends, and does most of the SGI paperwork in between.
Saskatoon Prestige Windshield is the glass shop Saskatoon drivers and their neighbours use, working on cars from across the city and nearby towns, including Warman, Martensville, Osler, Dalmeny, Langham, Delisle, Vanscoy, Clavet, Aberdeen, Dundurn, Hague, Allan, Asquith and Corman Park. Pickup is free within city limits; if you're coming in from a town, book ahead and your glass will be on the rack.
Service AreasHow long does windshield replacement take?
Plan on 60 to 90 minutes for the glass, then one to two hours while the urethane sets before you drive off. Cars with a lane camera add roughly an hour for calibration. Cold slows that glue right down, which is exactly why every one of our installs happens indoors at 20°C.
Does SGI cover windshield replacement?
Yes. SGI covers glass damage and you're on the hook only for your deductible: $50 or $100 with an Auto Pak package policy, or $700 on basic plate coverage alone. Bring your customer number, plate number and the date it happened; we send the claim in and bill SGI for the rest.
Will a windshield claim raise my SGI rates?
No. A rock chip or crack from road debris is treated as a road hazard, not an at-fault collision, so a glass claim does not change your Safety Rating or your premium. Many package policies also cover up to three chip repairs a year at no cost to you.
Can I drive with a cracked windshield in Saskatchewan?
A tiny chip off to the side is fine for now, but a crack across your view can earn a ticket under Saskatchewan's vehicle equipment regulations. And no word of a lie, a January cold snap can stretch a chip into a 30 cm crack overnight. Get it filled this week, not this spring.
How soon can I drive after a new windshield?
Usually one to two hours after we finish. That's the safe drive-away time for our urethane in a 20°C shop; colder air would slow it down. For the first day, crack a window before shutting the doors, leave the tape alone, and give the automatic car wash a miss for two or three days.
Do you replace windshields on trucks and vans?
Yes. Half-tons, three-quarter-tons, cargo vans and work fleets all come through our doors, along with cars and SUVs. Tall van windshields always get two installers and proper lifters. Companies running several units can open an account and see one invoice a month.
Is chip repair really worth it?
Nearly every time. Filling a chip runs $70 (often $0 on a package policy) and takes twenty minutes, while new glass starts around $350. Every January we watch chips turn into cracks the morning someone blasts the defrost on frozen glass. Fill it early and it stays a small bill.
